What Your Signature Says About You

Some people's signatures are just as recognizable as the individuals themselves. Their autographs become symbols of the impact these iconoclasts have made.

Whether it’s the meticulous whimsy of Walt Disney or the future orientation of Steve Jobs, how you scrawl your name reflects who you really are.

Here’s how:

  • An indecipherable signature - you're probably a bit too confident.
  • Underlining - you lack confidence and need some accents to prop you up.
  • Short signature - you’re impatient and can’t bother with the whole thing.
  • Straight signature - you have an even-tempered personality.
  • A period - you're a leader in your industry and use punctuation to reinforce it.
  • Downward slant - you're a glass-half-empty kind of guy.
  • Rightward slant - you’re sociable, leaning into other people.
  • Upward slant - you’re thinking about the future and what’s possible.
  • Initials only - you’re extremely private and would rather not share everything.
  • A nickname - you’re fiercely independent and can’t be bothered for your real name.
  • Small letter size - you have self-esteem issues, and it shows in your signature.
  • Large capital letters - you’re proud and want people to know it.
  • Illegible letters - your mind moves quickly and rushes through things.
  • Last name more legible than the first - you’re cautious and slow things down.
